1971 Pontiac LeMans T-37 (The Beast For The East)
Last updated May 9, 2008
I found on the road side. I was going to a car show and we drove past it on the way there. It had a for sale sign on it so I had to go look. It was a 1971 Pontiac T-37 LeMans. I am told this is also a pretty rare car because most people back in the day just used them for GTO parts. The T-37, I found out means Tempest 37, in 1971 they did away with the Tempest line and added a package option for the LeMans called the T-37. Anyway the sticker price was $3200, of course I didn't have the money and I didn't want to pay that much. I looked it over real good and it looked to be in great shape! It was black, almost complete, and to top it all off it had a 383 strocker in it. I talked him down to $2700, called in a few favors and it was mine. I drove it around town for the next week and I actually met my current fiance in that car. It now has a bad solenoid and no gas, oh well I will get to it.
it has a 383 Stroker and probably has one horse for every cubic inch. so around 380hp 0-60 in what was that! ha ha, I am too scared to top it out. I took it out one night to do that and hit around 90 or so it shifted and I went over a hill to see some knuckle head trying to pass on a hill. No crash but it was close. It is a three speed.
T-37 was a stripped down package. not much came on it.
383, B&M shifter, racing steering wheel, kragor rims, new power leather seats, new ride hight shocks, and so on
