1979 Pontiac Trans Am Custom (Whitie)
Last updated May 28, 2008
This is the first TA that I purchased in Georgia. I really wanted an SE but knowing they are hard to find, I bought this one instead and I don't regret it. I haven't done much with this car at all and it is mostly original......even the paint and decals! The only things I have replaced is the door panels, console door, and a master cylinder. The unique thing about this car is that it had a custom T-Top conversion by Cars and Concepts that went out of business back in the mid 80s. I try not to drive Whitie as much because of its originality but it does pop in at local car shows from time to time. I even have the build sheet and original papers from the previous owners (I am the third) which is why I have kept Whitie.

Power Trunk Release
NONE!!!! Doesn't need any!
I have been struggling with Whitie's paint and decals. The front facia is really looking bad. You cannot see this in the picture but the paint is flaking off and the stripes are coming off because of age. The previous owners did not want to paint the facia thinking doing so would reduce its value but it looks really bad. They touched it up so much that it just looks awful so I will probably get the front facia painted with the correct stripes back on. The back spoiler fins are virtually paintless right now because of the hot sun and I plan on painting that as well as the bumper which has faded. The bird is also faded but still looks ok although there are some cracks and scatches on it. The wheels need to be re-painted and clear coated also.
The interior is excellent but I would like to spruce it up by having the seats re-upholstered with reproduction Hobnail and new seat buns
