1980 Pontiac J-2000 (Rick's J-2000)
Last updated Jul 8, 2008
This is the 1/24 scale model car of the famous Rick Dobbertons' Pontiac J-2000 built in the 80's. He won many top named car shows and became a legend in the automotive car show circuits. He had this car in many major magazines including Hot Rod, Car Craft, Super Chevy, and many more. Revelle released this model to the public but it was a rather hard kit to build. Most of the parts did not fit correctly and I myself used 4 kits to build one model. The company rated this model as a skill level 3 (the highest) but it should have been rated at a 10.
The kit was incorrect in color schemes and with some of the parts used. I corrected the things I seen wrong using all the magazine articles andpictures I could gather up. I used these magazines when I entered the model into model car contests with the items that had been corrected on a sheet along with any and all mods I made to the car to actually assemble it.
THIS IS THE ONLY COMPLETED MODEL OF THIS KIT KNOWN TO EVER BEEN USED FOR COMPETITION MODEL CAR SHOWS TO THIS DATE. I have won one first place trophy and a fourth place trophy with this. This is at least 15 years old now and starting to show it's age.
Revelle 1/24 scale plastic model car.
These were Pontiacs worst cars in years. I believe they had either 4 or 6 cylinder motors both and manual and automatic transmissions. The automatics were metric so not very good for anything. Notorious for not lasting long and having all types fo mechanical problems.
