1987 Chevrolet Corvette Z52 (NOW 94)
Last updated Nov 24, 2010
This car was my 36th birthday present from my wife.
It was in nice driver condition with 59457 original miles We drove it like it was for 2 years enjoying every minute. Then started the restoration. All paint was taken back buy hand to the factory black primer for a good base. Body was in perfect condition with no cracks or damage at all. Then started with the sealer coat, primer coat, more rubbing, more primer, more blocking including making fiberglass bumpers fit (lots of work but better than the urethane in the long run) all in all, alot of hard labour. Then came the 4 coats of Corvette Torch Red followed by 5 coats of clear coat enough for the color sanding.
Car has TPI 350 4speed automatic transmission,3:07 to1 performance rear end.
Car has standard leather seats, both driver and passenger electrics, Electronic air conditioning, Z52 performance suspension package, Cars color was factory code 74 Dark Red Metalic and trim code 622 Saddle leather.
Changes I have made since owning are FULL respray inside and out in 1994 CorvetteTorch Red. Changed front and rear bumpers to late C4. Changed fenders and side moulds to 91-94 type. Left high mount stop light and filled rear bumper center light to give the ZR-1 look. Fitted new 1994 Saw Blade wheels. 17x8.5 front & 17x9.5 rear 275 tires front & 315 tires rear. All new weather striping. Changed interior trim color to black including new carpet and new black plastic trim pieces where needed.
Car has as of 7/31/10 64677 miles
Engine mods are Crane roller rockers. Hypertech power chip. Throttle body air foil. K&N air fillter opened front on air box. Cat back 2.5'' Exhaust with straight thru stainless steel mufflers. B&M shift kit in the transmission.
