- Too bad such a rare (and really good looking) car like that had to get totalled out from under you before you even had a chance to get it finished!

About
I was working in the local Chevy Dealer's Bodyshop when I was going out to luch the Tuesday after Memorial day when there sat this Monza Spyder fresh trade on the used car lot. They let me take home for lunch. I drove it hard for my whole lunch break! It stalled out a few times and rough-started each time. I took it back and gave them an offer of $500 on it. They didn't go for it at first, but after him-hawing aroung with the used car manager, I finally got it for my $500, tax, title, temporary tag, and out the door! First thing I did to it when I took it home was to replace the timing chain and gear set. It ran good for awhile after that but it still wasn't quite right. I ended up getting a crate engine from Western Auto and a 4 barrle intake from a 4.1 L V-6. I also took all the good parts from "Experiment #2" and updated my Spyder, man! I had exhaust pipes bent to run pararell down the original path with dual glass pack mufflers. It ran like a V-8 and kinds sounded like one, too! Especially when the quadrajet opened up! Before I could get my work done on it, a guy driving a '79 Ford Pick-Up decided to use my rear bumper to stop instead of his brakes. After all the haggling with insurance companies, I ended up with a cash settlement of $1200 + the $750 they originally offered for ACV for the car and credit for all the new parts I put on . I got to keep the crashed remains. I stripped it out, cut it up, and sold all the good parts. I used the engine and trans in a '83 Buick Regal I was going to make an "econo-clone" Buick GN out of. The front clip and rear axel was going to be used in my friend's Pontiac 6000 to make a rear wheel drive conversion with. that project never happened.
