I recently purchased this 1969 142S Volvo for a project car. Right now the car is mostly original except for a few things. This car is powered by a 2L OHV straight four motor with dual Stromberg carburetors. The motor has 220,000 miles on it but the four speed transmission was rebuilt not long ago. The steering box needs to be replaced, and I'm a little worried about the master cylinder, but the engine doesn't leak any oil and runs really nice once it's warmed up a bit.
The car is rough, but is reliable and makes a great daily driver.
The plans for this car include a 2.1L turbocharged and fuel injected over head cam. 4 cyl. engine that will be controlled by Megasquirt. Suspension will include Bilstein Heavy duty shocks and possibly IPD sport springs. Eventually the front disc brakes will be upgraded to a vented disc brake setup from a Volvo 164.
