AS SEEN IN OUR STREET TRUCKS JUNE 2026 ISSUE – Buy Now!
Man, I’ll be honest. Stepping back into the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for our second straight year at Darryl Starbird’s felt like coming home. Last year, I shot the event for Street Trucks, and I swore I’d never miss it again. The energy, the smell of quick detail being spayed, and the wall-to-wall customs make this one of my favorite weekends behind the lens.
Over 1,000 rods, customs, lowriders, and slammed trucks packed the floor again this year. Everything from perfect ’50s cruisers to wild ’90s OBS builds sat next to fresh restomods. I spent hours chasing details, pinstriped firewalls, chopped tops, tucked wiring, and slammed pickups that look like they’re melting into the concrete. The outdoor Cool Car Corral was packed too, with guys firing up engines and swapping stories between rows of killer iron.
What keeps us coming back to this show is the whole vibe. It’s part car show, part family reunion, part old-school party. The Starbird’s show featured live rockabilly music, pin-up contests, in-person pinstriping demos, and a constant buzz of people who actually wrench on their rides. I caught VooDoo Larry doing another chop-top live on the floor—that kind of hands-on action is pure gold for a photographer. The builders are real, the crowd is fired up, and nobody is putting on airs—just good people showing off what they built in their garages or shops.
Street Trucks made the trip again because this show delivers every single time. The mixture of classic hot rods and modern custom trucks is exactly what our readers love, and I love capturing it.
If you haven’t been, put Darryl Starbird’s on your calendar for next February. I’ll be there again, camera ready, chasing the next perfect shot. See you in Tulsa, folks.
