A Childhood Dream Turned Adult Reality

In the world of off-road performance, there’s a clear line between trucks that are assembled and trucks that are built with purpose. For Ren Dyer of Anaheim, California, that purpose started long before he ever turned a wrench. Like many enthusiasts, his inspiration was rooted during childhood while watching prerunners tear across the desert, soaking up punishment while looking effortlessly capable.

Years later, that dream materialized into a meticulously crafted 2020 Ford F-150 named Tiffany, a truck that blends clean aesthetics with serious off-road performance. This isn’t just another lifted pickup. This is a two-year, $100,000 vision brought to life. Ren didn’t set out to build just any truck; he set out to build his truck. “As a kid, I always wanted a prerunner-looking truck,” he explains. That simple idea became the backbone of Tiffany’s identity: aggressive, functional, and built to handle real terrain, not just look good in a parking lot. From the beginning, this build was about doing things right. No shortcuts, no compromises, just carefully selected components and a clear goal in mind. And while the process took two full years, the result speaks for itself: a truck that balances performance, durability, and style in a way that feels cohesive from bumper to bumper.

Tiffany’s exterior is where form meets function in the most obvious way. Up front, Morimoto headlights provide modern lighting performance, while the custom bumpers built by SVC Offroad and Tap Fabrication set the tone for the truck’s rugged personality. The real standout, however, lies in the bodywork. FiberwerX carbon fiber fenders paired with HRD carbon fender liners give the truck that unmistakable prerunner stance—wider, more aggressive, and ready to cycle through serious suspension travel. It’s not just about looks either; the added clearance plays a critical role in off-road capability. Lighting is another area where this truck literally shines. Equipped with 12 Baja Designs lights mounted across the front, rear, and undercarriage, Tiffany is ready to light up the desert long after the sun drops.

Under the hood, Ren kept things straightforward and reliable with a 5.0L V8. In a world where complicated builds can sometimes lead to headaches, this choice reflects a practical mindset, plenty of power, proven reliability, and a solid foundation for off-road abuse. Supporting the engine is a standalone harness and a Radium fuel surge tank, ensuring consistent fuel delivery even in harsh conditions where sloshing fuel can become an issue. The exhaust system, built by OC Muffler Man, features a 3-inch setup with a dump exit, giving the truck a clean, aggressive tone without unnecessary complexity. Backing up the V8 is a Ford transmission updated for 2025, ensuring modern performance and durability. While the drivetrain setup remains relatively straightforward on paper, it’s clear that the focus here wasn’t on flashy specs; it was on reliability and usability in real-world conditions. Because at the end of the day, a prerunner isn’t meant to sit still; it’s meant to move—fast.

If there’s one area where Tiffany truly comes alive, it’s underneath. The suspension setup is anchored by Blitzkrieg Motorsports upper control arms, paired with Fox components throughout. Up front, Fox 3.0 shocks handle the abuse, while Deaver springs and Fox shocks in the rear provide a balanced, capable ride that can handle both high-speed desert runs and technical terrain. This isn’t just a parts list; it’s a carefully matched system designed to work together seamlessly. Blitzkrieg also played a key role in the installation, making what could have been a complicated process feel manageable. As Ren puts it, “Getting everything installed, Blitzkrieg made it super easy to build my dream truck.” That kind of support can make or break a build, and in this case, it clearly helped elevate the final result.

A prerunner’s stance is everything, and Tiffany absolutely nails it. Rolling on Walker Evans wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich KDR3 tires (37×12.5), the truck has both the look and the traction to back it up. The combination delivers serious grip in off-road conditions while maintaining durability under heavy use. Of course, pushing the limits comes with its challenges. Ren noted some rubbing at full crank and full bump on the right fender, a common issue in aggressive builds. The solution? A simple but effective 2-inch spacer, proving that sometimes the best fixes are also the simplest.

Inside, Tiffany keeps things clean and practical. Factory seats remain in place, maintaining comfort and usability, while a stereo system featuring dual 10-inch Kicker subs adds a bit of personality for daily driving. It’s not overbuilt, and that’s intentional. The focus remains on driving, on getting out and using the truck rather than overcomplicating the cabin.

This isn’t a garage queen. Tiffany has already seen action at events and locations like the California 300, Mint 400, Ocotillo Wells, and Barstow, proving that this build isn’t just for show. It’s built to perform in the environments that inspired it from the very beginning. Like any build, the journey came with its share of lessons. Ren’s biggest takeaway? “It takes longer than you think to build it. The journey is 100% worth the end result.” He also offers a piece of advice that anyone considering a similar build should take seriously: “Spend wisely. It gets pricey very quickly.” And he’s not wrong. With a $100,000 investment, Tiffany represents not just a financial commitment but also making a pact to do things the right way.

When asked about the most unique feature of the truck, Ren points to the combination of carbon fiber fenders, Walker Evans wheels, and BFGoodrich KDR3 tires. It’s not just one part; it’s how everything comes together. The stance, the materials, and the proportions all work in harmony to create something that feels complete.

Even with the build finished, there’s always room for improvement. Next on the list? Front and rear bump stops from Fox are another step toward refining performance and pushing the truck even further because builds like this are never truly finished. Tiffany is a perfect example of what happens when passion meets patience. It’s not about chasing trends or building for attention; it’s about creating something personal, something functional, and something that delivers on the dream that started it all. From the desert floors of Barstow to the high-speed chaos of the Mint 400, this 2020 Ford F-150 isn’t just along for the ride; it’s leading it. For Ren Dyer, that childhood vision of a prerunner-style truck? It’s no longer a dream. It’s sitting in his driveway ready for the next run. We thank Ren for allowing us to capture his unique build to feature it in our magazine alongside legends in the off-road world. We hope to see this build more in the future, ripping around the California deserts and highways. Until then, Tread on!
