The Central Nebraska Auto Club was established in 1992 when two groups of area car enthusiastic got together and formed a club to help put on a big summer time event called Cruise Nite. Cruise Nite started with one of our members visiting another state in where they held a cruise event. He brought his idea back to the group he belonged to in 1987. Thus, Cruise Nite was started in Kearney Nebraska.
The Central Nebraska Auto Club has 50 members, who own a number of different kinds of cars. Ranging anywhere from the 1950’s Chevy’s, 1960’s Ford’s, Javelins, Mercedes, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Studebaker, Rambler, AMC, Mercury, Lincoln, Model A, Austin Healey, Thunderbird, Corvettes and many more different models and makes.
Each year the club assists with the NPPD sponsored Power Drive. This event features high school kids building their own electric cars and then competing across Nebraska. In October the Central Nebraska Auto Club holds an Annual Show and Shine, in which the high school kids get to come and judge our cars. This event is open to the public. A scholarship is also presented to a student who will further their education in Automotive Industry.
Our meeting nights are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month and on the 4th Thursday we have a dine out night. Special event are planned for the Christmas Party and impromptu events throughout the year. Please visit a meeting and see if this is the club for you.
