This was for sale in1977 in the small town in the midwest for the hefty sum of $500. I told my dad about i and the guy selling the 66 gto wanted my dad's 48 ford for 1/2 pickup My dad had painted in the back yard with a montgomery wards air compressor and paint gun. case tractor orange...hell everybody wanted that truck/ At least 15- 20 people has stoped our house askinmg if we wanted to sell the truck. They guy offered my dad $100 off the GTO if he could have the truck. Dad did for me. I was 15 and he had bought another 66 GTO when i was 14 for get this $20 buvks....
i kept this car until 1986. At that time i"d lived in california for 4years. I had left the GTO in storage for those 4 years. I started working for Jet America in 1984.They flew non stop Long Beach to Chicago. I flew for free. I started flying bak to chicago and makein the 4 hrs drive from there in renatal cars to my parents home outside peoria ill. I went home at leat once a month.i was making good money for the first time in my life. I got the GTO roadworthy. I looked nice but needed a fly whee;. my dad and i took to a mchine shop and they turn the flywhee; to romvoe the stress cracks to make a clean surfae . I took it to my 5-year class reunion. no on could believe i steill had it. Then 86 i decide to dump the gto for cally rust free car
so i took it to this guy that collected gto's. he was i want it but i have to sell this 70 vette covertible.The guy with the vette was like $3700 and your car and you can have the vette. I siad thas cool but i don't have the money. my mom wa with me and she told me to be quite before the guy changed his mind. then she said lets go to the bank. The gto ended up in later years being worth more then the vette. i kept that vette until 2010...............i had great parenst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
