After I crashed my 70 Roadrunner in 1978 I went on a search for a Barracuda Fastback.I found the car behind a gas station in Sierra Vista,Arizona,it had no motor,tranny.front or back windows,bought it for 200.00 dollars.Threw in a 383 from the Roadrunner & finished High School with it.After I graduated I tore it all down & spent 2 years building it again.I had it almost done,just needed paint,I had invested about $11,000.00 into it.Came out one morning from my apartment to find it stripped.Sold it to a friend for $800.00 & swore I would NEVER build another one.15 years later I get a call from my brother in AZ,he tells me the guy I sold the car to has it for sale.I go to AZ see the car,fall in love with it again,althought it was pretty rough,I bought it back for $1,400.00.I trailered it back to Calif,for 5 years it was my work truck.Then I got serious about re-doing it,tore it all apart & spent 2 1/2 years on it.It was finally done!!!
PlumCrazy Purple Baby !!! I've had it back for 12 years now,I enjoy driving the snot out of it,if it's on a trailer or me or my wife aren't driving it,(I let her drive it occasionally) it's been STOLEN....
The car now sports a 360 smallblock bored 30 over.Weiand Tunnel Ram,dual 450 CFM Holleys,aluminum Edelbrock heads,ported & polished,11.1 compression.Fuel is fed to it by a Holley Blue pump & regulator, Be Cool radiator keeps things in check.727 torqflite transmission with a 3500 stall convertor,& 3.55 sure-grip posi.The best time at the strip was a 12.54 @ 111 mph,had problems hooking it up,on the 4th pass I took out the # 3 & 4 rod bearings.I haven't ran it with the Tunnel Rammed motor yet.The color of the car is Plum Crazy Purple,lift off Pro Stock hood.The interior has an aluminum dash,all Autometer Guages,swivel fiberglass bucket seats & old school black diamond tuck interior,new carpet from Year One.All the exterior chrome has been redone & grill is polished.All new window fuzzies the work,there's not one bolt left undone or new.The front suspension was upgraded with a complete rebuild,new torsion bars,K frame everything,& a Flaming River 16.1 close ratio steering box & a complete Wilwood disc back system up front.
None really,it was just a regular old 318 car & 904 transmission.
