Well, anyone who ever owned a big block hi horsepower car knows how much fun and torque these cars had !! Red with the black SS stripes, and cowl induction hood. SS 396 and 375 hp, GM ratiing !! But GM had bored those engines in 1970 to 402, and NHRA had them rated at 425 hp,, and l think that was low.. l installed 2 1/4 inch tube hedders with 10 inch collectors, and the mufflers dropped off at the Drag Strip.. l ran a rejetted 780 cfm holley carb, degreed the cam, it had the big cam in it already so ll stayed with it.. Ran a 3,000 rpm stahl converter, and a shift kit in the 400 Turbo Tranny.. Had 90/10 Drag Shocks up front, and coil over shocks in the back with 4 X15 in front tires an 10 X 34 hoosier slicks !! I shifted at 7200 rpm an crossed the 1/4 mile mark at 6800 still pulling strong.. l ran 4:88 rear gears with the GM posi unit ! Tried a 5:13 gear for a couple of week ends, an the car slowed down in the 1/4 mile, so went back to the 4:88's Car ran 12:00 flat all the time and once in awhile would bump into the 11:90's At 12:00 it ran 112 mph .. It was a good car, fun to drive an fun to shut other brands down with.. lolol ..
