What a car to own! Well worth the effort of restoration. I'm a Corvette man at heart, but I love all the Firebird variants from the early 70s. Check out my garage to see an action/adventure novel I've written, featuring a stolen 73 Trans Am Super Duty.

Photo of a 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 RA III Drag Pack ("The Bone Collector")

1970 Pontiac Formula 400 RAIII Drag Pack
400 RAIII, Muncie Close-Ratio 4-speed, 3:90 limited slip 12 bolt rear.
Lucerne Blue exterior / Bright Blue interior, 15" Rally wheel Package, Deluxe interior package, Exterior trim package, No luxary options available on this edition, not even rear defrost. Meant strictly to go faster then the rest and look great doing it. The 70 Firebird lineup was actually introduced to the public mid year so it was only a 6 month production and not a year as other models.
Unfortunately even though she has an original 44,652 miles on the odometer and is untouched she has been sitting in a garage since 1984 and is under going a complete ground up restoration. She was even still wearing the same Good Year F60-15 Poly Glass Tires someone replaced the original rubber with back in the 70's I believe when I found her.

As of right now everything is in a stock direction but more to come on that!

Factory Options

400 Ram Air III Engine 10:75.1 compression, Muncie Close Ratio 4-speed, 3:90 Limited slip 12 bolt rear, Heavy Duty suspension complete with 15" Rallye Wheel package, Dual Exhaust, exterior trim package, Deluxe interior package, drag pack special edition package.

She will be stock but considering some unknowingly and untraceable modifications and enhacements..... but more to come on that as I am considering bolt on replacements such as tubular control arms, thicker sway bars, frame connectors (this welded ofcourse), etc and storing away the original parts for later if the car need be returned to original.
Drive train will either sconsist of mild modifications that are undetectable or I might store the original drivetrain and do another pre 71 400 stroked with a 455 crank machined and build a 467 stroker. But this is undecided of yet muchless have I given enough thought if this is feasible.
On the exterior she will remain stock but undecided if a little trick might go into paint. Interior will definitely be stock except for sound system neatly put in with no cutting so it can be taken out and the original put back original. The only other thing is replacing the Tach with an After market if needed with drivetrain decision. I will not build a trailor queen and I plan on enjoying this car once the resto is done, but I will not become Pontiac enemy #1 by butchering a true matching number and extremely rare Ram Air car. This is 1 of 32 made and 1 of a handful left in the world.
