I got Ingrid about six months ago, and discovered that she hadn't been kept maintained at all! I've spent about half as much as I paid for her in updates and upgrades, but now I'm finally ready to begin on my favorite part: the pretty stuff! Yep, she needs new paint (a previous owner had just sprayed a quick layer over her original shade, and it's starting to look kinda yucky), and I'm going to re-do her interior at the same time. Stock 1600 engine from another '74 Super Beetle.
She was just a stock, 1600cc. I was able to obtain a "birth certificate" from Wolfsburg, Germany, and found that she wasn't special-ordered, but rather was one of several to be shipped to the U.S. via New York City for general distribution to regional and then local dealerships. Her original color was called Brilliant Orange, which is unfortunately one of the ONLY ugly shades of orange that VW came out with!
Blue paint job (previous owner; needs work badly!) with flames(!), and white SCAT interior. Have LOTS of plans for customizing this girl!!!
