The photo is on the day I sold it. The young man standing by it was the 16 year old that bought it. His Dad said his son Loved Trans AM's since the first time he saw "Smokey and the Bandit" He told me his son had been saving all his money earned on the family farm for years to buy one.!!
This is one of three '79 Anniversary TA's I have owned. This was the coolest one by far. I sold it several years ago. It had an interesting history. It had 58k miles on it. It was owned by a Drug Dealer and was repossessed after being hidden for a few years. They finally found it in a Barn!
The finance company sold it on a closed bid and I got it for $1,365. Two people out bid me, but couldn't get it to run, so they passed. I went out to pick it up and had it running in 15min. I even drove it home!
A little time and effort and it was a pretty nice car. Had to put a new Clutch in it and rebuild the transmission. Of course the leather seats were in rough shape and one mirrored T-Top was broken. But luckily I knew a friend that had a set from a TATA he had parted out.
There are definitely times that I think I should have kept this one!!!
Hey, do you know where this car is??? I would enjoy hearing from the current owner!!!
