This van was given to me buy a old friend and her husband. They were at an auction at Northern Kentucky University. They were bidding on a Caprice for their business and noticed no one had put a minimum bid on several other vehicles. Needless to say, they got it for nearly nothing.
They knew I had started a positive behavior program at my middle school. As a part of the program, I reward students with trips to car shows, etc. They thought I might be able to use this van for the program.
The only catch was that the bench sets had been removed by the university as it had been used by the maintenance department. The week after they drove the van up from Kentucky, I got on eBay and put a minimum bid on a set of bench sets. No one else bid on them, so my father and I drove down to Nashville, Tennessee and picked up the seats for a mere $50 bucks!
The van had some ugly state of Kentucky seals on the doors that the university had spray painted (black) over with a rattle can. I thought an easy fix would be to clean off the black, peel off the decals and buy some "cool" decals to cover the areas were the decals lifted the paint off the doors. Again...was able to find what I needed on eBay...bought a set of cool "Mooneye" decals for the doors.
I haven't checked, but I'm guessing this is probably the only 15 passsenger van on Motortopia!
