This Protege (323 4-door) was a guy's ex-wife's car. His son aparently harbored some resentment toward 'ole Mom. The kid had smashed out all the tailights, side markers, a couple of windows. He had attacked the interior with a razor knife, all the seats had large sections cut out of them. The ignition key was missing, as was the battery, stereo and spark plug wires. After a little work on it in his yard, I eventually drove it home. After many trips to the junk yard and an exhaust, it looked pretty good. This car was a blast to drive! With the cat missing, and an open air filter, the engine really came alive! Having so little money into it, I didn't hesitate to tach it up to 8 grand between shifts. This Mazda would do front-drive burnouts for 1/2 a block. It sounded like a wounded Ferrari coming up the street. I had a blast street racing it around TR over the summer of 2003! I sold it that fall to a kid down the street for $750.
