There’s something special about building a truck. It’s even better when your partner is riding shotgun every step of the way. For Feliciano and Dora Ambriz of McAllen, Texas, the journey into custom truck culture isn’t a solo mission; it’s a full-on tag team. The duo owns not one but two 1985 Chevrolet Silverado squarebodies that they’ve nicknamed Thing 1 and Thing 2—identical in year but completely different in personality.

Feliciano pilots Thing 1, a purpose-built street terror powered by a forged LS2 408 stroker built by Jorge Cantu, better known as La Chicken at Kids and Cars 956. It’s not just a pretty engine; it’s packing gap insurance for those bold enough to test their luck on the street. Sitting on a static coilover setup from Kid Metal Worx in Alamo, Texas, Thing 1 rides on a Billet Specialties Redline drag pack—17x5s up front and 15x12s out back. It’s low, it’s loud, and it means business.

On the other hand, Thing 2, Dora’s pride and joy, brings the full showstopper vibes. Under the hood sits a fully built 6.0L from Memo Performance Tuning, topped with a Holley Hi-Ram intake that steals the spotlight every time the hood pops. While Thing 1 is all about horsepower and hook-ups, Thing 2 glides on a custom air-ride suspension with front bags and control arms and a fully customized rear back-half 4-link setup, all dialed in by Kid Metal Worx. Her “skating shoes”? A set of Intro Spyder wheels—24×9 up front and 24×15 in the rear—that give her the ultimate street queen stance.
Feliciano and Dora didn’t stop at just performance and stance; they went all in on the interior, too. Thing 2 features a full custom wrap in real cowhide leather, while Thing 1 keeps it closer to OEM, also dressed in fresh cowhide for that classic-meets-custom look. Credit goes to Eleazar Guajardo at Bruno’s Upholstery for bringing the cabin game up to par, while Efrain Garcia at House of Sound handled the sound and interior tech across both builds.

Both trucks are finished in slick, glossy paintwork by Beto Guajardo at Rolling One Customs in Alamo, Texas. Together, they turn heads and win hearts everywhere they roll. Whether it’s a local cruise night or a national show, Feliciano and Dora roll deep, roll clean, and roll together.
In the words of the couple, “One is for show, and one is for the go.” And really, what more could you ask for?
Built with love, horsepower, and a whole lot of Texas pride, Thing 1 and Thing 2 are proof that couples who wrench together win together.
