Chance Frank’s Return to Dually Greatness

For some, the itch never really goes away. That gnawing urge. That empty space in the garage and in the soul where a dream machine once sat. For Chance Frank of Elk City, Oklahoma, that void came in the shape of a heavy-hitting custom dually. And while he tried to move on after selling his last Phat Phabz-built beast, the truth was simple: Chance missed it more than he expected. So, he told his wife, Tawni, what so many of us try to explain: “I keep dreaming about building another one.” That dream became reality in a way only Phat Phabz could make happen.

Chance was no stranger to the scene. His previous dually was a rolling masterpiece built by none other than Jake McKiddie and his crew at Phat Phabz. But when an offer came that was too good to refuse, he let it go. What he didn’t let go of was the feeling it gave him—the pride, the presence, and the power of piloting a one-of-a-kind machine.

Back home in Elk City, where dual rear wheels are as common as oil rigs and wide-open highways, Chance began hearing rumors. Phat Phabz had stripped down a brand-new 2024 Chevy 3500 HD to nothing but sheetmetal and bolts. They were building something radical: a fully custom tube chassis strong enough to haul but low enough to lay rocker. That was all Chance needed to hear.

When Phat Phabz starts with a frame delete, you know something wild is coming. Jake’s team didn’t just notch and bag a factory frame; they started from scratch, hand-fabricating a custom tube chassis that allowed the truck to lay completely flat with the rocker panels kissing concrete. But don’t let the stance fool you; this monster still had to tow a heavy gooseneck trailer throughout the week.

Stuffing the factory 6.6L Duramax diesel back into the mix was no bolt-in job either. The team had to carefully re-engineer the engine’s placement, reroute harnesses and modules, and preserve all OEM communication with the 10-speed automatic. All of this, while ensuring the motor just barely cleared the factory hood.

Once the body and bed were back on, the fabrication went into overdrive. The team at Phat Phabz had to carve out serious room to fit 30-inch American Force “Business” wheels, which now tuck neatly under widened, hand-built rear fenders. The factory bed steps, bumper steps, tailgate caps, and bed rail caps were all shaved clean, giving the truck a sleek and aggressive silhouette that’s both refined and menacing.

But the pièce de résistance? The factory Duramax hood. Jake’s team worked magic under the skin—reimagining the intake layout while preserving the stock ram air appearance. It’s one of those “blink and you’ll miss it” touches that proves this truck was built with surgical precision.

The payoff for all that late-night wrenching came under the Texas sun at the 2025 Lone Star Throwdown in Conroe. After the long tow from Elk City, Chance and Tawni watched their new dually roll onto the showgrounds, laid out, slammed, and stealing the show. Heads turned, cameras flashed, and jaws dropped. The void was filled and then some.

For Chance, this wasn’t just about building another truck. It was about proving that power, beauty, and function can all coexist under one metal sheet roof. For Phat Phabz, it was another masterpiece, a fusion of brute force and high design, engineering and art. Because when it comes to dually trucks, Chance Frank doesn’t settle for average, and at Phat Phabz, bigger isn’t just better—it’s the only way.
