Drag Racer
Acceding to the clamor of western Chevy LS devotees, last year Holley brought its LS Fest to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was a roaring success. This year’s return engagement, by all standards (rocketing car count and spectator attendance), proved Holley made the correct decision to head west.
For those who’ve been incarcerated or dwelling in a cave, the Holley LS Fest (based upon GM’s beloved LS platform) provides a plethora of automotive delights: autocross, road racing, drifting, off-road, dyno challenge, car show and most important to our readership, drag racing.

The drag racers attending were undoubtedly freethinkers; the pits, a bizzaro world of unique race cars. The entry list also included dozens of new, high-dollar ’Vettes, Camaros and Cadillacs whose owners flogged them as if they were rental cars. Also competing were a gaggle of turncoat LS-equipped blue oval products.
No matter the event, particularly drag racing, participants were dead-on focused, but the fun quotient was sky high. All involved considered LS Fest West a rollicking success. Close to 700 cars participated, and if the level of enthusiasm is an accurate gauge, year three will certainly by a must-attend affair.
