Nathan Thomas’ 1956 Ford F-100 Pro Street Dream

There’s just something about an old-school Ford that never goes out of style. For Nathan Thomas of Wirtz, Virginia, that timeless appeal was more than just nostalgia it was a calling. After a decade of blood, sweat, and late nights in his home garage, Nathan brought his vision to life with “Midnight Thunder,” a jaw-dropping 1956 Ford F-100 that perfectly blends hot rod heritage with modern muscle.

Nathan grew up surrounded by hot rodders, and from the moment he heard the roar of a carbureted V8, he was hooked. “I always wanted a Pro Street truck,” he says. That dream finally took shape with this ‘56 F-100, which started life as a bare shell. What followed was a meticulous, passion-fueled build that would test his patience, skill, and creativity.

One of the standout features of Midnight Thunder is its mesmerizing paint. Nathan wanted a deep, slick finish that would make people stop and stare. The result? A custom-mixed hue called Black Sapphire a color that appears jet black in the shade, but reveals subtle flashes of midnight blue when touched by sunlight. Best of all, Nathan laid down the paint himself, adding a deeply personal touch to the truck’s show-stopping finish.

To complement the sleek paintwork, Nathan took a bold step and deleted all the chrome trim, choosing instead to lean into a cleaner, more aggressive look. For the finishing touch, he turned to Noble Graphics in Roanoke, VA. Their airbrush work is so precise and realistic that most people don’t even realize the truck’s graphics aren’t real chrome until they look closely. It’s that level of detail that sets Midnight Thunder apart.

Underneath, this F-100 isn’t just for show. Nathan installed QA1 coilovers all around, paired with a narrowed Ford 9-inch rear end packed with 4.56 gears to handle the power and plant it to the pavement. The truck squats on a set of massive 20×14 Coy wheels wrapped in meaty Mickey Thompson rubber, giving it a tough-as-nails stance that screams performance.

And when it comes to power, Nathan didn’t hold back. Midnight Thunder is powered by a 351 Windsor stroked to 408 cubic inches, built with all the go-fast goodies a hot rodder could ask for. From custom valve covers to a clean, wire-tucked engine bay, the setup is both functional and flawless proof that form and function can coexist in harmony.

What makes this build even more special is that it wasn’t built to sit under a show tent it was built to drive. Nathan hits the highway regularly, traveling across the country to show off his hard work and passion. Wherever Midnight Thunder goes, heads turn, jaws drop, and people take notice. It’s loud. It’s bold. It’s everything a Pro Street truck should be.
