The most anticipated show to ever hit the 956 (Rio Grande Valley) in South Texas absolutely lived up to the hype! For an event that we pulled together in just four short months, the turnout was nothing short of insane!
Rio Heat started on a much smaller scale back in 2024 in my hometown of Rio Grande City (Starr County). From day one, it just kept growing and growing to the point where we completely maxed out the capacity of our local park! The team kept pushing me to go bigger, but I didn’t feel quite ready yet.
Fast forward to 2026. After pitching our vision to countless people and getting nothing but overwhelming, positive feedback, we decided to run with it. On January 1st, 2026, we dropped the official announcement, launched the website, and pre-registrations absolutely exploded. From there, the rest is history.
We moved the show to the perfect venue for our vision: the RGV Livestock Grounds in Mercedes, Texas.
Once the layout was locked in, we opened the gates on May 2nd, 2026, and managed to pack in over 2,000 vehicles, a spectacle the RGV has never seen before! We had an incredible variety of styles roll through, and the RGV’s OBS scene absolutely did not disappoint.
Against all odds, Rio Heat solidified itself as one of the biggest shows to ever hit the RGV, pulling in a mind-blowing spectator count of over 13,000 people for a first-year show at this scale!
We definitely felt the pressure and were majorly understaffed, but the team came in clutch and pulled through to make the magic happen. A massive shoutout to Leo, Jr., Abel, AB, Miguel, Juan, Lex, Christina, Marisol, Nancy, Oneyda, and Ashley. You all took over the frontline and handled it like absolute champs!
Get ready, because Rio Heat 2027 is about to get even hotter!
