CBI & Prinsu Debut the World’s First Portal-Equipped 2025 4Runner

When the new 6th Gen Toyota 4Runner finally hit the dirt, the excitement at the shop was electric. We knew this platform had massive potential, and we couldn’t wait to see how far we could push it. What started as a vision for the ultimate adventure rig has officially become a reality. We’ve moved past the “what-ifs” and the testing phases; this 4Runner is trail-tested, and it’s an absolute beast.

Building the Modern Legend

For us, “good enough” isn’t in our vocabulary. To give this 4Runner the protection it deserves, we developed an all-new full-size front bumper. It doesn’t just look the part; it provides the heavy-duty armor and clearance needed when the trail gets technical. The bumper also allows us the option to run a winch and carry additional lighting.

To keep the underside safe from whatever the terrain throws our way, we added our CBI aluminum skid plates and DOM rock sliders. These are the essentials that give you peace of mind when you’re miles from the nearest pavement. And of course, no build is complete without a Prinsu Pro roof rack. It’s the perfect, low-profile setup for hauling all our gear without adding unnecessary bulk.

The Secret Sauce: Portals and 37s

If you really want to turn heads (and clear boulders), you talk about the stance. We decided to go big by installing 74Weld Portal Axles on all four corners. This was a huge step for us in seeing what’s possible with the 6th Gen.

The result? Massive ground clearance that honestly makes the trail and obstacles look a lot smaller from the driver’s seat. We paired the Portals with 37×13.50R17 Toyo RT Pro tires and Black Rhino Fuji wheels. Even with that wide +38mm offset, everything fits and functions perfectly. The best part? The gear reduction from the portals makes the truck feel incredibly responsive, whether we’re crawling through a wash or just cruising through town.

Out on the Trail

Building a rig this ambitious is one thing, but seeing it perform in the wild is where the real reward lies. After spending significant time putting this 6th Gen through its paces, we can confidently say it’s more than just a head-turner;  it’s a game-changer. The synergy between the Peak Suspension 2.5-inch remote reservoir DSC shocks and that massive Portal lift has created a truly next-level ride.

The most striking moment occurs the first time you step back and look at the rig on a technical trail. Seeing the sheer amount of daylight under the chassis compared to a stock 4Runner is wild. It’s a visual reminder that this platform is now more capable, more stable, and ready to tackle lines we used to think twice about.

This build has been an incredible journey for the CBI and Prinsu teams. It’s a testament to what happens when you combine premium armor with cutting-edge drivetrain technology. We’re stoked to show the community what’s possible with the new 4Runner, and believe us when we say, we’re just getting started.
