Hey, gearheads, I’m Chris Hamilton, editor-in-chief over at Motortopia. It’s Monday, November 3, 2025, and we’re already deep in the chaos that is SEMA setup day here in Sin City. The doors don’t open to the masses till tomorrow, but man, the anticipation is already through the roof. Think hundreds of wild rigs, slammed C10s, lifted Broncos, and insane imports, gettin’ some final tweaks before the floodgates unleash 161,000 automotive nuts on the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Flashback quick: SEMA kicked off back in the ’70s as a humble shindig cooked up by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), a crew reppin’ the aftermarket grind that’s ballooned to a $44.6 billion beast today.
What started as a spot for speed shops to hawk hot rods and headers has morphed into the ultimate playground, 1.2 million square feet of booth space packed with 2,400 exhibitors from 140 countries, droppin’ 3,000 new products and 1,500 feature rides that’ll make your jaw drop. It’s where legends get born, from wild drift demos to hands-on wrench sessions that turn “I wish” into “I built that.”
Right now, it’s all outdoor eye candy: patina’d classics, modern muscle and monster tires, and a few lowriders just to mix it up. No crowds yet, just pure, grease monkey vibes. We’ll be out here all week so keep coming back.
